The first week in Ohio.

The first days at university were a bit confusing - the time difference, culture shock, and the fact that I'm about 7,000 km from home significantly impacted the matter. In practice, the well-known campus culture in the United States was utterly new to me. In Finland, I'm not used to the fact that students live on campus. I think it is, e.g., really absurd that I eat three times at school. In Finland, I go to the university about three times a week, and even then, I spend a maximum of 6-8 hours there.

After the first few days, the time difference get better, and I began getting used to campus life. I also got to know other exchange students. The first weekend we went to Detroit for a baseball game. I had never seen a live American baseball game, only Finnish baseball, so the experience was unique. Still, I have to admit that I expected the sport to be much faster-paced.

Monday 22.8. school started adequately, and I was able to attend the first lectures. The lectures seemed interesting, but they turned out to be completely different from those in Finland. In Finland, I am used to the fact that the classes last about three to four hours, which are theoretical. In addition, a lot of articles are covered in the lectures. At ONU (Ohio Northern University), the classes are much shorter, about an hour long, and more practical. In addition, the tasks are much shorter, and there are more.

However, the first week in Ohio went very quickly, and I met several new people. I also got to play a lot of sports because the campus offers great and good opportunities for many different sports.
