Week 43
Week 43
Week 43 was really normal, just like my previous weeks here in the US. The problem with the university is that it is located in such a small town. On the other hand, it's good, because then there are no external stimuli that could hinder studying. So, from the perspective of an exchange student who would like to see as much of the USA as possible and travel, the situation is a little different.
During the week, I attended lectures and worked out as usual. It was Halloween at the weekend, which I had expected a lot in part. In Finland, Halloween is not a big party and you can't really see it even in the street scene. For a few weeks in Finland, some shops sell Halloween decorations and e.g. universities organize their own Halloween parties for their students. However, I was surprised at how big a deal Halloween is here in the US. Many houses were decorated to look ''scary'', and on Thursday the children walked around the streets and houses of Ada wearing Halloween costumes with their parents. At the weekend, it seemed again that every corner had some sort of Halloween party.
At the weekend, I also booked the return tickets to Finland and arranged the practical matters for the return to Finland. Everything should be ready now. In my own way, it's great to be back in Finland, but I will definitely miss this kind of college life and other exchange students.
I'm happy you enjoyed the US; I know it must be very different! It's funny that Halloween is not significant in Finland like in the US; people go crazy for Halloween here. I hope you were able to see as much of the US as you wanted to and maybe I will see you in Finland one day! Safe travels home!
