Life as an exchange student in Ohio

  The first days at university were a bit confusing - the time difference, culture shock, and the fact that I'm about 7,000 km from home significantly impacted the matter. In practice, the well-known campus culture in the United States was utterly new to me. In Finland, I'm not used to the fact that students live on campus. I think it is, e.g., really absurd that I eat three times at school. In Finland, I go to the university about three times a week, and even then, I spend a maximum of 6-8 hours there.  After the first few days, the time difference get better, and I began getting used to campus life. I also got to know other exchange students. The first weekend we went to Detroit for a baseball game. I had never seen a live American baseball game, only Finnish baseball, so the experience was unique. Hey there! I am a 24-year-old exchange student from Finland. I am studying in the fall semester of 2022 in the United States in the state of Ohio at Ohio Northern University. I'm in the fifth year of business studies at the University of Eastern Finland in Finland. My major is international business and sales management. I am scheduled to graduate with a master's degree in economics in June 2023. I have studied marketing and information systems science as minor subjects. In addition to my studies, I have worked as a digital marketing specialist in a Finnish insurance company. I arrived in Ohio on August 17. Five days before the courses started. My original intention was to come to Ohio on August 9, but unfortunately, I could not arrive at that time due to work.
